CLLS 30th Anniversary ToolKit:
In September, 2014, California Library Literacy Services will celebrate 30 years of providing high quality learner centered volunteer based adult literacy services in libraries around the state. The focus of the month will be to expand awareness about the need for adult literacy services in our communities, and to reach out to recruit new tutors and other volunteers.
This 30th Anniversary ToolKit is here to help you with your local activities and celebrations!
At minimum, we hope you will hold at least one literacy event in your community -- a fundraiser, an awareness day, a volunteer recognition event -- whatever! Do something you already do, or if you're interested in something new, provided below are descriptions of events that our literacy colleagues around the state have implemented successfully to help you with your event planning.
We also hope you will seek a local Proclamation for September 2014 to be proclaimed "Adult Literacy Awareness Month" in your city and/or county, and that you will use other resources that you find here to draw attention to the wonderful work you're doing!
