 | How do I become a volunteer? |
 |
Share the rewards of reading!... Volunteer to tutor English-speaking adults who would like to improve their basic reading and writing skills. No experience is necessary, just a love of reading and a willingness to make a difference in the life of another adult.
Once you’ve contacted a library literacy service near you, you will be invited to a tutor training. Following that training you will be matched one-to-one or in a small group with an adult/adults who wish to improve their reading and writing skills.
Because the tutoring is so individualized, you can work at your own pace and on the materials that most interest your student. Most tutoring will take place in a library setting so you can work privately in a comfortable environment with the support of staff and with books and resources close at hand.
It’s easy to get started with these free services by contacting a local library literacy provider near you.
