This extensive collection of videos was produced by the San José Public Library’s Partners in Reading program and Santa Clara City Library’s Read Santa Clara program.  They were made possible in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.

The videos are based on research that identifies four components of reading: alphabetics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.  Special thanks to adult literacy consultants Kathy St. John and Amy Prevedel for project content and development, and to the many tutors and learners who appear in the videos.  For further study, see Applying Research in Reading Instruction for Adults.
